Huber Heights Senior Center Free Transportation
The Huber Heights Senior Center is offering free transportation to
area residents, age 60 and up under the Friend Trips program, sponsored by
Goodwill Easter Seals. Trips are offered to Good Samaritan Hospital
North and any destination in Huber Heights and for any purpose, including medical appointments.
There is a one-time enrollment fee of $25, but no charge for the rides.
To enroll in the Friend Trips program, please call the senior center office
at 233-9999. Enrolled riders can make ride reservations by calling the
Shiloh House office at 275-4626.
Volunteer Drivers Needed
The Huber Heights Senior Center is seeking volunteer drivers for the
Friend Trips program serving local residents 60 and up. Volunteer
drivers can use their own vehicle or the agency mini-van. To volunteer for
driver duty call Mary at 461-480 ext 371.
Anyone wishing to donate a vehicle to the Friend Trips program should call
the Shiloh House office at 275-4626.
Volunteer Drivers Needed
The Fairborn
Senior Center Transportation Services department is seeking volunteer drivers
to operate a department provided car, a wheel-capable mini-van, and a full
size van. Volunteers may drive any of the vehicles and can drive as
often as wanted each month, including full days, half days, multiple times
per month or once a month. All drivers receive training and insurance
coverage while they are driving department vehicles. If you or someone
you know can spare the time and are interested in volunteering, please

Grief Counseling
Healing Hearts
Grief Counseling, sponsored by Crossroads Hospice, is held on the fourth
Monday of each month at 1 pm at the Earl Heck Community Center. It is open to the general public for

Ballroom Dance Classes
The Earl Heck Community Center is offering Ballroom Dancing every

Aviation Heritage Speaker Series
The Aviation
Heritage Speaker Series will present Dayton area entrepreneurs and aeronautical
engineers, Walt Hoy and Mitch Cary to discuss the historic significance of
the Wright “B” Flyer. The duo will also discuss how their organization
is honoring the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers and promoting Dayton as the “Leader In Flight.”
The Aviation
Heritage Speaker Series offers the public a variety of knowledgeable speakers
addressing topics related to aviation history through engaging discussion and
first-hand accounts. All programs are on Wednesdays, 7 p.m. at the Engineers Club, 110 East Monument

Pantry – Donations Needed
The Northmont Friends in
Service for Humanity is in need of several non-perishable items to help stock
its pantry. The goal is to always be able to help those in need so no man,
woman, or child in the Northmont community

Dayton Metro Library SCORE
The Dayton Metro Library
offers a wide variety of free programs designed to help small businesses get
started and thrive. The library continues its partnership with SCORE, a
national nonprofit organization whose volunteers are retired or working
business owners, executives and corporate leaders. SCORE counselors provide
free and confidential advice at all stages of developing and running a small
business during individual drop-in counseling sessions at the Main Library, 215 E. Third St., Dayton.
Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis the first Thursday
of each month, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the library’s first floor. For more

The Tenth Life
The Tenth Life
is a no-kill cat care and adoption center located in Greene County. The cats live in a home environment,
where they are fed the best food ad receive a great deal of attention from
volunteers and visitors. There is a full-time veterinarian to handle
all of the medical needs and volunteers to manage all other duties. The
Tenth Life is funded through Combined Federal Campaign and United
Way donations, private donations, and fund
raisers. All funds are used for the care of the cats. Before
being adopted, all cats are spayed or neutered, tested for Feline Leukemia
and Feline AIDs, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. The cats are
available for adoption by appointment. The adoption fee is sixty-five
dollars. If you would like to adopt one of these wonderful furry

Chapter 3 Collection
The Blue Star
Mothers Miami Valley Chapter 3 is collecting items, cards, and donations for
soldiers serving in Iraq and other areas overseas. Support is needed,
especially for those soldiers not getting any support from home. Donations
are being accepted at the dental office of Dr. Beverly Fanz located at 625 W.
National Rd in Englewood.
Childhood Immunizations
Childhood immunizations are offered at no charge at outreach clinic sites
to children of all ages by the Combined Health District of Montgomery County
as part of the “KISS Your Child” Immunization Program. The goal of this
program is to fully immunize 90% of all children under the age of two in Montgomery County. There are no family income
requirements to receive immunizations and the vaccines are of highest
quality.
Vaccines are available for all children age 18 and under. Parents or legal
guardians must bring the child’s shot record and insurance card with them. No
child will be turned away due to inability to pay. Childhood immunization

Relief
Enon Emergency Relief
manages the registration and distribution of a monthly box of USDA surplus food
to senior citizens 60 years of age and older living in the Greenon School
District. To be eligible for this Commodity Supplemental Food Program a
single person’s monthly income must be less than $1,062 and that of a couple
less than $1,430.
The food boxes are
distributed each month to registered people at the Enon Emergency Relief

Essential Tremor Support Group
The Cincinnati/Dayton
Essential Tremor Support Group meets the second Sunday of each month at
Kettering/Sycamore Hospital on Leiter Road, Miamisburg at 2 pm in Dining Room No. 2. The group shares ideas on how to cope with
everyday living with a tremor. Guest speakers are scheduled every other

The First Christian
Church’s First Light program is offers single moms a life changing eight week
class that inspires and encourages single moms who deal with everyday
problems. During the class moms will learn how to stretch their dollar,
set goals, and feed their family. The program also guides moms with
solo parenting, developing a road map to financial freedom and teaching time management
skills. Child care will be provided while the parent is in class by the

Kettering Medical Center Tobacco Cessation Program
The Kettering Medical Center is offering a tobacco cessation program for those
who wish to stop smoking or using smokeless tobacco products. Patients
attend classes once a week for six weeks. Free nicotine replacement
therapy or medication is included for an eight week period. Counseling
is a key component to any successful smoking cessation program and is a
requirement for receiving nicotine replacement products.

St Peter Food Pantry
Since October
1996, the St. Peter Food Pantry has helped over 300 needy families in our
community. Their mission is to provide food to people during a time of
need. The Food Pantry is open every
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for needy families or individuals
residing in the 45424 Zip Code area. Families are able to come to the pantry
once every other month for as long as needed to receive non-perishable food
items enough for up to four days. To
receive food, bring a photo ID, proof of residency and some personal

Grandparents Support Group
The AARP sponsored free tax preparation will be offered on Wednesdays and
Fridays at the Huber Heights

returns will also be prepared at the Huber Heights Library on Monday

Once a month, the Huber Heights Senior

The Mature American Citizens Club (MAC

Senior Independence WISDOM Program
Senior Independence WISDOM program will
be holding a wellness clinic at Earl Heck Community Center at 201 N. Main Street in Englewood. This clinic will be held the second
Friday of every month from 10:30 a.m. until noon. To kick of the clinic, there will be
free health screenings for seniors. The screenings will include: Blood
Pressure, Pulse, Oxygen, Glucose or Total Cholesterol. Please fast for 2 to 4

Senior Transportation Program
Huber Heights residents, age 60 and up, may participate in a new
senior transportation service sponsored by Goodwill Easter Seals. To enroll
and make a reservation, please call the Huber Heights Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 233-9999.
There is one-time enrollment fee but no charge during the ride. Currently,
trips are offered to Wal-Mart and Meijer.
Drivers are needed so that the service may expand to include medical

Vandalia Senior Center
The Vandalia Senior Center
offers a wide range of activities for people age 55 and older. Activities

Join in for the Tuesday Morning Adult Walk at Eastwood MetroPark. Every

Class
The Tecumseh YMCA is offering an Active Older Adults class for those
adults that would like to work on strength and flexibility. This is a very
low impact class that utilizes a variety of equipment, and is designed to
